[Lia immediately steps aside so Violet can come in, then beams.]

Nice to meet you, Violet! I'm Lia.

[ Violet manages a slightly awkward smile – it's clear she doesn't feel a hundred percent comfortable, but considering the big upheaval that is moving to a new place (with a stranger, no less) then that's probably understandable. ]

Yes – it's nice to meet you too. I hope we'll be able to get along.

[ Violet trundles her way in with her luggage but rather than pulling it over to one of the beds, she instead sets it against the wall, where it won't be in the way. ]

Do you have a set side of the room you prefer to use? Just so I can be sure to put my belongings in the appropriate place.

[It's absolutely understandable. Lia points over to the left side of the room.]

I've kind of laid claim to this side of the room since I've been sleeping on this bed.

I see. Then I will take the right side.

[ With that decided, Violet wheels her luggage over to the appropriate bed and carefully sets it on there. She pops the case open and sets to taking out her clothes – she doesn't seem to have much variety in there, though. It's mostly just plain blouses and long skirts...

As she's unpacking, Violet lapses into silence, but after an awkward moment, she does finally speak up again. ]

Have you been a student here for long yourself?

[Lia moves to her side of the room and starts putting things away--wanting to clean things up a bit now that she's not living in this room alone anymore.]

Oh, not really. I just got here at the end of the last semester.

[ Oh, that's interesting. She'd sort of assumed that she'd be rooming with an established student – but when she thinks about it, it occurs to her that she only assumed that because she feels like such a newcomer herself. It'd be silly to think she was the only relatively new arrival. ]

Have you had a chance to attend any of the classes yet? Or will the next semester be your first time?

[Not really an unfair assumption, admittedly. If Lia said she didn't feel similarly when she arrived, she'd be lying.]

I did get a chance before the school year ended! It didn't count for much since I came in right at the end, but I at least have some experience. Nothing that'd be considered a core subject in any mundane school, but some of the other stuff... Alchemy and Artifice is a fun class if you like working with stuff.
