I feel like I at least owe you the full explanation, since I realize I was kind of... vague about it.

[She sighs and pushes some hair out of her face.]

Back home, I was part of a team that protected people from supernatural threats. We... had some sponsors that funded us, but mostly we were left to our own devices and went where we were needed in the city, stuff like that. One time, I accidentally wandered in on a meeting with the sponsors, who were... meeting with daemons. I didn't get to hear a lot, but they were... planning something bad. Someone found me and I didn't even get a slap on the wrist and told to not snoop. They just... started making attempts on my life because I knew too much.

[He frowns, a little confused.]

Why would daemons be involved with a group who funded people that considered them threats?

[He can see now why she was afraid with the website.]

That was the question I was struggling with for a while, to tell you the truth. [She frowns.] But there's all sorts of people out there, you know? Including those that could see the advantage in ignoring those principles in favor of what they think benefits them.

Not that it's very bright on their part, if you ask me, but... I need to go back eventually, so I can stop them.

You never know what to expect from people; I see that now. I think... I was very naive about things when I posted the website. I haven't been around a lot of the supernatural and wasn't aware of things like daemon alliances or how factions of the Outlands worked. I put faith in humans not being hostile because I... want to believe everyone isn't horrible at the core.
